What our alumni say

I grew up at JOKSOD for 12 years, taking every class I possibly could. I competed in troupes, solos, duos and trios in every style and completed my Cecchetti exams. It was my second home. I will be forever grateful for everything I learned from the beautiful facility and teachers. I was taught how to dance with technique, strength and grace; but I also learned sportsmanship and how to be a team player, how to take on corrections and to listen and self evaluate. I learned respect and gratitude surrounded by my friends every day after school.

I thank this school for being such a huge part of my childhood and can proudly say I could not be the successful young woman and professional dancer I am today without JOKSOD and the incredible community.

Since I have graduated from full time dance at Spectrum Dance in 2016, where I furthered my skills in new styles of dance such as hip hop, tap, ballroom, showgirl and commercial, I have gone on to become a professional international dancer in over 14 countries. Five years ago I successfully auditioned for Royal Caribbean and have been performing on their world class cruise ships ever since. I have been an ensemble member in a musical, an aerialist, a dance captain, a ballroom dancer and even a showgirl.

During this time I still have the same support and encouragement from Miss Jo as I did when I was a student. It amazes me how much the school has grown not only in size but in the overflowing talent of its students and teachers. I am forever thankful and proud to be a JOKSOD alumni.
