VCE VET DANCE at JOKSOD

VCE VET Dance covers the fundamentals of dance training and prepares you for a career in dance with industry-relevant skills and valuable experience. This course is delivered as part of a VET Delivered to Secondary Schools (VDSS) Program in partnership with Ausdance VIC (RTO: 20949).

The program provides students with the opportunity to:

Develop strong technical dance and choreography skills
Build industry knowledge and confidence through performance preparation and safe dance practices
Gain transferable skills such as teamwork, self-discipline, and resilience
Experience what it’s like to train as a professional dancer, teacher, or choreographer while completing secondary school

Upon successful completion of the two-year program (Units 1&2 and Units 3&4), students will receive:

CUA20120 Certificate II in Dance (Nationally Recognised)
Statement of Attainment towards CUA30120 Certificate III in Dance

An optional third year is available, leading to the full CUA30120 Certificate III in Dance.

When & Where

Terms 1-3 (2026):

Monday 4-6pm - Unit 1 & 2
Monday 5-7pm - Unit 3 & 4

Classes are held at Joanne O’Kelly School of Dance with practical and theory integrated into each block.

Style Options

Students select two styles of dance:

Internal Students (JOKSOD)
- Jazz + Lyrical (no RPL required)
- Jazz + chosen style (1 RPL required)
- Lyrical + chosen style (1 RPL required)
- Two non-jazz/lyrical styles (2 RPL required)
External Students
- Lyrical + chosen style (1 RPL required)

Direct Entry into Year 2

Students may apply for Year 2 entry via RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning).

Please note: Students entering directly into Year 2 will only receive Statements of Attainment — not the full Certificate II qualification.
