Taking Care of Your Body Over the School Holidays

At JOKSOD we know how hard our dancers work during the term and how tempting it can be to switch off completely once the holidays arrive! But keeping your body healthy over the break is just as important as your classes and rehearsals.
The school holidays are the perfect time to focus on two equally important things: conditioning and rest.
Keep Moving — Gently
Your body thrives on consistency. Staying active with gentle stretching, Pilates, yoga or a light home conditioning program will help you return to the studio feeling strong and ready, rather than stiff or sore. Focus on mobility, core strength and safe technique rather than pushing for big tricks or extreme flexibility.
Listen to Your Body
Rest doesn’t mean doing absolutely nothing but it does mean giving your muscles and joints a break from the intense demands of choreography, pointe work or long rehearsal days. If something feels tight or sore, take the time to stretch, roll it out gently or simply let it recover. Quality rest helps prevent injuries and keeps your passion for dance alive.
Nourish and Hydrate
School holidays can also throw routines off, so remember to fuel your body with balanced meals and keep hydrated. Your muscles and mind both need good nutrition and plenty of water to feel their best.
Come Back Refreshed
By taking care of your body over the holidays, you’ll return to classes not only rested but also stronger and more prepared for the term ahead. Think of this time as a chance to recharge and rebuild, your dancing will thank you for it!
Enjoy your break and remember, a healthy body is the foundation of your artistry.
