JOKSOD Summer School is here! What a great way to kick off the dance year!

THURSDAY 22nd to Saturday 24th January!

We are so excited to welcome an incredible line up on guest teachers, alongside some of our JOKSOD favs. Plus there will be lots of new dance styles on offer and exciting activities for the younger children.

The Summer School is open to all dancers, whether you attend JOKSOD or not, and we will be catering from ages 5 years and up! So why not come along and give it a try, with the opportunity to be taught by some masters in the dance industry. 

Summer School details

• Open to Beginners (Age 5+) through Senior & Advanced

• A wide variety of classes, including Classical Ballet, Variation studies, Strength and conditioning, Pilates, Contemporary, Lyrical, Jazz, Hip Hop, Broadway Jazz, Musical Theatre

• Industry renowned incredible Guest teachers joining us across the program - see below for full line up!

• Fully operational canteen providing lunches and snacks

• Innovative workshops for all ages to learn practical skills and prepare for the dance world, including sewing ballet ribbons, how to do a ballet bun, pointe shoe workshop, audition skills and cruise ship workshop. 

Group Placement

Beginner Group (Age 5-7 years)

• For new dancers, dancers starting school this year, or those in Beginners last year

• This group is kept separate to ensure a supportive, confidence-building experience

• Times:

  • Thursday 9.30am to 1.50pm:  Ballet, Lyrical, ballet books

  • Friday 10.00am to 2.00pm: Ballet, Jazz, modelling, build a dancer

• Cost: $112 for the two days of dance OR $70 per day

Juniors (Exam Grade 1 or 2 in 2026) or Age 7-9years

• Times:

  • Thursday 9.30am to 2.00pm: Musical Theatre, Ballet, Jazz, Bun workshop

  • Friday 9.00am to 2.30pm: Contemporary, Lyrical, Composition, modelling

  • Saturday 9.30am to 2.15pm: Ballet, Composition, Conditioning, pointe shoe workshop

• Cost:

  • $220 for the three days of dance

  • $100 per day

  • $35.00 per class

Intermediate (Exam 3 to 5 in 2026) OR Age 10 - 12 years

• Times:

  • Thursday 9.45am to 3.00pm: Broadway, Pilates, Jazz, Lyrical

  • Friday 9.15am to 3.15pm: Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, conditioning

  • Saturday 9.15am to 2.00pm: Ballet, Variation studies, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, pointe shoe workshop

• Cost:

  • $280 for the three days of dance

  • $120 per day

  • $35.00 per class

Grade 6 Cecchetti Dancers

• May choose Intermediate Group or Senior Group

• Senior Group is more challenging — please consider confidence and readiness

• Grade 6 dancers must advise Miss Jo of their chosen group via the TryBooking form or by email

Seniors (Grade 6 Exam or above) Age 12+

• Times:

  • Thursday 11.00am to 4.30pm: Broadway, Pilates, Lyrical, Cruise ship workshop

  • Friday 9.20am to 3.15pm: Classical Ballet, Variation studies, Lyrical, Jazz

  • Saturday 9.30am to 3.00pm: Classical Ballet, Variation studies, Musical Theatre, Audition technique, sewing workshop

• Cost:

  • $300 for the three days of dance

  • $130 per day

  • $35.00 per class

Family Discounts

• 20% off second child

• 10% off third child
  (Discount applies to younger siblings)

To book a family discount, please book for your eldest child on Trybooking link and then email info@joanneokellyschoolofdance.com.au with the details of the younger siblings so they can be allocated in the right group. The other siblings can be paid for in cash on the first day of Summer School. 

Welcome Back Day Scholarship

One dancer from each group (Junior, Intermediate, Senior) will receive a FREE PASS to Welcome Back Day (Saturday 7 February).

Selection is based on the following during the Summer School:

• Work ethic

• Willingness to try

• Positivity and inclusiveness

To be eligible, dancers must attend all classes across all 3 days of the Summer School..
Scholarships are selected by teaching staff and announced at the end of Summer School.
