A new chapter for the JOKSOD Transition Program

We’re excited to announce an evolution of the JOKSOD Transition Program (JTP) for 2027.

Over the years, we’ve seen firsthand that dancers progress at different rates and have different goals. Some begin thinking about more intensive training at a young age, while others start considering a future in dance as they approach their teenage years.

We wanted JTP to reflect that.

Introducing JTP Intermediate and JTP Senior

From 2027, the JOKSOD Transition Program will offer two stages of training, providing a more progressive pathway for dancers as they develop.

JTP Intermediate | Ages 9–11

Our new JTP Intermediate program will give younger dancers the opportunity to experience enhanced training through half-day intensives several times each term.

The focus is on building strong technical foundations, strength, body awareness, musicality, confidence and positive training habits.

It’s not about rushing young dancers towards full-time training. It’s about building the foundations that give them choices later.

JTP Senior | Ages 12+

JTP Senior is our more intensive pathway for dancers who are ready to take their training further and may be considering full-time dance training or a future within the performing arts.

The program will operate as a full-day Monday intensive approximately 5–6 times per term, with the potential for additional opportunities as the program develops.

Training will focus on classical ballet, strength and conditioning, Pilates and body conditioning, variation studies, artistry and the physical and mental resilience required for advanced training.

Stay at school. Train with purpose. Prepare for what's next.

One of the things that makes JTP different is our belief that dancers shouldn't have to choose between their education and their dance ambitions too early.

JTP is designed to work alongside academic studies, giving dancers the opportunity to progressively increase their training while remaining at school.

For some, JTP may eventually lead towards full-time dance training.

For others, it may lead to tertiary study, performance, teaching, choreography or another pathway within the performing arts.

And that's exactly the point.

There is no single pathway into dance.

Our goal is to give dancers the training, experience and knowledge to understand what's possible—and the confidence to choose their own path when the time is right.

A pathway with a proven history

JTP and JEP dancers have already gone on to pursue opportunities with leading organisations including The Australian Ballet School, Royal Ballet School, New Zealand School of Dance, Queensland Ballet Academy, WAAPA, VCA, Sydney Dance Company Pre-Professional Year, Joffrey Ballet School and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, among others.

Our dancers have also achieved placings and prizes at national and international competitions.

These achievements are something we are incredibly proud of—but for us, success isn't simply about where a dancer ends up.

It's about helping every dancer become stronger, more confident, more informed and more capable than they were when they started.

Ready for your next move?

Whether your dancer is 9 and beginning to explore enhanced training, or 12+ and starting to seriously consider where dance could take them, JTP provides a pathway to help them prepare for what's next.
